Buspar relieves anxiety for a short period

Buspar

Buspar (or buspirone) has buspirone hydrochloride as an active ingredient. It is supplied in tablets for oral administration with 5, 10, 15 or 30 mg of buspirone hydrochloride.

Buspar relieves anxiety for a short period. It is used to cope with anxiety disorders accompanied by depression or not.

Buspar has an advantage: it doesn’t belong to sedative/anxiolytic drugs, so it does not cause muscle relaxation, sedation and does not reduce mental alertness. It does not have withdrawal effects as well.

This anti-anxiety agent effectively treats mild or moderate generalized anxiety disorder, without panic attacks. It is sometimes used against depression.

Your doctor should know if you have allergy to any medications, if you have liver or kidney disease, if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. Let your doctor or pharmacist explain you all you should know about Buspar and how to use it; follow their instructions exactly. You should always take tablets with food or always without food. Do not drink grapefruit juice or eat grapefruit when using Buspar. This medicine is only effective when taken every day. You shouldn’t miss doses even if you feel well. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, but only if there’s enough time left before you have to take the next dose. Never take 2 doses at the same time.
